As part of the eTwinning project “Empathy in Action – Life Skills Against Bullying,” students from Dionysos Junior High School, Greece took part in an inspiring learning experience using the EAR (Explore–Act–Reflect) methodology, developed through the ACAδIMIA – European Teachers’ Academy for Creative and Inclusive Learning project.
Working with the international scenario “The Push,” students explored the difficult role of the bystander through creative drama and dialogue. Using techniques such as Conscience Alley, In the Line, and Frozen Images, they stepped into the characters’ shoes, debated different perspectives, and reflected on the consequences of choosing to act—or remain silent.
Throughout the activities, students:
– Strengthened their empathy and active listening skills.
– Developed critical thinking through dialogue and argumentation.
– Reflected on their own experiences and attitudes towards bullying.
– Recognized that standing up for others takes courage, responsibility, and support from trusted adults.
The experience concluded with students creating an Empathy Wall, sharing messages of encouragement, and making personal commitments to help prevent bullying by becoming active, caring bystanders.
By combining creativity, theatre, and reflection, the EAR methodology empowers young people to become empathetic, responsible, and active citizens—showing that even one person’s decision to act can make a meaningful difference.
Because fighting bullying starts with understanding another person’s feelings—and having the courage to stand beside them.
